One of my favourite blogs is LondonJazzCollector.

Loading up some of Clark Terry's music for auditioning via the iPod, I googled the album Color Changes recorded in New York,  1960 and one of the top hits was this post here from LJC. 

And for readers signed up to Spotify, here is the album for your listening pleasure...

I wonder whether several of the compositions in the album covered were inspired by Clark Terry's stay in Paris twelve months earlier, recording music for this film Si le ben the fait peur...

In April 1945, to promote the sale of war bonds, the Treasury Department contracted Duke Ellington to do a series of 55 min public broadcasts. This double CD contains broadcast No. 36 and 37 complete with radio speaks and encouragements to buy bonds + bonus material and extensive liner notes.

CD 1 contains a radio broadcast from Darthmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, May 4, 1946, plus bonus tracks from  The Hurricane Club in New York, September 3, 1943.

CD 2 features two radio programs from Radio City in New York, May 18 and May 25, 1946. The last tracks are again from The Hurricane Club but from September 1, 1943.

“Volume 19 offers the listener a Duke Ellington Orchestra that was zealously maintaining its confidence and energy...The remarkable output is swinging, bluesy, danceable and emotive.”writes William McFadden, who is also the author of the extensive liner notes.

Long Time

It was reported last October on the LondonJazzNewsBlog that  Pete Long's Echoes of Ellington band was back in the recording studio after a 'significant lull'.
